Hello all :) I think eventually Taylor and I will pick a focus for the purpose of this blog.. I was thinking a color a day? Or something having to do with balance. Like.. even though I should be studying- making a blog post to unleash some creativity could actually be conducive to me being able to focus on studying in the near future. It's all about balance, yo! So, I want to talk about ginkgo trees. You know those beautiful, white blossoming babies in the spring that are so nice to look at, but smell like.. shit? Yes, that would be the lovely ginkgo! But in the fall they turn yellow and are just beautiful. These trees my friend Cayle told me today are extremely ancient. The oldest fossil of the gingko leaf dates back to 270 million years ago..age of the dinosaurs. Crazy, eh? A living fossil.
Another cool little tidbit about the gingko is that it has memory enhancing qualities when taken as a vitamin supplement; or it at least increases blood flow to the brain, which is productive. My friend Brandon recommended that I take some ginkgo biloba vitamins to increase my ability to study today. Humph.
I am not going to lie.. Yesterday as I played in the pile of golden biloba leaves with some friends, afterwards I did feel slightly more.... alive. Maybe it has nothing to do with the Ginkgo's magical brain enhancing qualities. Maybe it's just the fact that playing in leaves increases a human's sense of well being and allows oneself to feel more motivated to go on with ones day in a more productive way. But moreover, it's probably because playing in a pile of leaves that aren't soggy and wet and crawling with bugs that get stuck in your hair afterwards is a HUGE advantage, as far as playing in leaves goes.
Go friends, looking for a little motivation to study for finals this week? I dare you to go play with a ginkgo for an hour.
